High-paying jobs are declining and its low-paying jobs are increasing. That's one of the trends in regional snapshot, an atlanta regional commission report that comes out thursday. The makeup of the region's population is changing as well. The percentage of residents 20 to 65 years old is shrinking and the percentage of residents older than 65 or younger than 20 is growing. That shift means the region has to think harder about providing easy access to health care and mass transit, and building more walkable communities, said chick krautler, the arc director. The most troubling information contained in the report might be the slip in jobs that pay on average $5,700 a month. More than 40,000 such jobs have been lost since 2001. “that's been a significant concern since 2000,” krautler said. The region hasn't fully recovered from the dot-com bust early in the decade when 60,000 well-paid jobs were lost, he said.If you are an engineer or technician in the automotive field. A medical professional or tech, you can live quite comfortably here. Other sectors (teaching, non-profits, the arts) don't pay as well as they do in other locations. We are ~1 hour from three "big" cities for nightlife, shopping etc. Because the salaries are high(in the above mentioned fields), the cost of living is low, and there is not a lot of temptation to spend locally, people here tend to travel quite a bit.You are literally up against thousands of other people for the same job, and that means you have to do. In your power to distinguish yourself, and make yourself stand-out from the crowd. You have to think about why a logcap recruiter would recommend you.High-paying jobs are still highly sought after, and you'll face stiff competition when applying for them. The culinary arts job market is expected to increase by around 11% over the next decade, growing at an average rate. â  more specifically, over 300,000 new jobs are expected to open up over this time period. â  this growth is based upon population increase and household income increase - because more people will have more disposable income and families will have more mouths to feed, more and more people will be eating out. â  experts also anticipate more families will take vacations; meaning more hotels and restaurants in popular vacation spots will need additional cooks. However, while jobs will increase, most of them will not be top positions. â  executive chefs and head cooks should not expect many new employment opportunities. â  instead, most of the positions will be in fast food and casual dining restaurants, not upscale restaurants. â  however, one high-paying culinary arts area that is expected to grow by around 10% is private household cooks. â  as incomes rise and more and more families can afford these luxuries, private chefs will find more opportunities for employment. â  this is especially true in areas such as los angeles and new york city, which have higher percentages of wealthy people than other areas in the country. As far as salary goes, the culinary arts field is very, very broad.High-paying jobs are in medical and business fields. Here are america's highest salary paying gigs, according to the most recent. Conducted by the bureau of labor statistics, with their respective average salaries. ($219,770) – this is one career in which you can see tons of variation across geographic area and surgical specialty. Cardiac surgeons can make significantly more than this average. ($211,750) – folks who haven't undergone surgery may not be familiar with the unique role of an anesthesiologist. These specially trained doctors work with a surgical team to develop an anesthetic plan and to keep a patient stable during surgery.High-paying jobs are out there, even if some of them are a bit of a drive from buffalo. Other recruiters and experts agree buffalo niagara has $100,000-plus jobs to offer, even if those positions are not widely promoted. “i think there is a significant level of that activity, but you have to look for them,” said randy strauss, managing partner of straussgroup in clarence. Strauss said his firm recently placed someone in a human resources- related position at a call center with a total compensation package of between $250,000 and $300,000. Another job his company filled, with a health care company, paid more than $100,000 annually. Tim o’brien, regional managing director for spherion corp. , a staffing and recruitment firm, said employers trying to fill higher-paying jobs tend to use a targeted approach. And many of the prospects to whom re-cruiters reach out are people already working in other jobs but can be hired away with the right offer, he said. That “quiet” approach toward filling high-paying jobs gave cenedella the idea to start theladders. On monday, involta, a company based in cedar rapids, iowa, broke ground for a $20 million data center at 191 e. Ted strickland said involta's plan is an example ofâ  "the pathway towards recovery" during the recession. The data center will employ approximately 60 people with an average salary of $70,000. Company officials estimate an additional 35 employees will be added during a second phase, which is scheduled in the next three to five years. Construction is expected to begin before the end of 2010. Involta will secure data and provide disaster recovery services for several businesses, including some in the healthcare and education fields.High-paying jobs and Part time jobs are easier to come by, where is the opposite true? the worst cities on our list span three archetypes: rust belt basket cases, sunbelt flame-outs and expensive big cities. Perhaps the toughest losses were in michigan: detroit and the warren-troy metro area suffered big setbacks both in the last year and over the last decade. Consistent job losses in business services in these areas--some 54,000 in the troy area since 2001--reveal the clear connection between employment in business services and in the region's fundamental auto industry. It turns out that elite services often prove dependent on basic industry. When industrial plants shut down, it's not just blue-collar workers and company executives that suffer; as a result, these firms will use fewer lawyers, accountants, architects and technical consultants. , which lost about 35,000 business-services jobs in just one year. This loss stems from the collapse of the housing bubble, which powered the rest of the regional economy. The same meltdown caused smaller but still significant reversals in one-time boomtowns like.
